Parent Advisory Committees (PACs) Kick Off at D187 Schools

September 18, 2023

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings for the 2023-2024 school year are underway, and events were held on September 18, 2023, at Green Bay Early Childhood Center & Neal Math and Science Academy on September 20, 2023. All parents of D187 students are invited to attend.

PACs are an excellent way for parents to get involved in their children's education and to help make their schools the best they can be. Parent Advisory Committees include parents, teachers, and other district staff members who work together to support their children's education. PACs also provide input on school activities and events.

Parents are encouraged to come to the meeting with their ideas and suggestions for the PAC. The PAC is a great way to make a difference in your child's school and build a community of parents committed to their children's education.

Why PACs are Important:

PACs are important because they give parents a voice in their children's education. PACs also help to build a sense of community among parents and school staff.

PACs can help to improve schools in several ways. For example, PACS provides parents with the opportunity to:

  • Develop leadership skills

  • Build their knowledge

  • Support two-way communications between families and schools

  • Collaborate with the school principal on programming at the school, focusing on school issues

  • Make sure their voices are heard

How to get involved:

Come to the next meeting to get involved in your child's school PAC. There are no special requirements to join a PAC. This year, all D187 schools will have a PAC. PAC meetings will be held at least once per quarter.
